In Fruit

“We have some interesting lines in store this week. Firstly, our NSW stores have secured some slightly smaller excellent fruit; lunchbox Pink Lady apples, which we are able to sell at a substantial discount to the larger premium fruit, same apple from the same farm just a bit smaller, so a real bargain.

Green kiwi has finally eased in price and will generally be cheaper than the gold from now on. NSW stores have got two specials a bit left of field this weekend; Drinking coconuts, half price and Piqua Boo pears, which is across variety of Chinese, Japanese and European varieties which is to be eaten crunchy not soft.

With grapes, the red seedless are now by far the best option and NSW have an extra-large loose premium Crimson on special this weekend.

In avocados, we are transitioning to the G Max variety this week, they are just so good to eat. As far as I am concerned, a far better option than the new season Hass variety fruit appearing in the supermarkets last week and more so this week.

The gap we had last week with Imperial mandarins has been plugged and there is fantastic fruit in all our stores again. Apples, pears and better coloured navels (some of the pale gassed fruit is still quite sour) are all reasonably priced and good eating all."

In Veg

“Lots happening this week. Celery, cauliflowers and broccoli are all well priced and top quality as they were last week.

This week, we have Dutch carrots at less than half last week’s price, they are really good value, as well, the different coloured Dutch have started to ease in price and will be cheaper by the weekend.

Baby cukes are still great value as are all gourmet tomatoes. pumpkin and green caps have both eased and will remain cheap for a while.

Something different this week, both twin pack Cos and radicchio are cheaper than they have been recently and so enjoy a different salad this week, it’s rare that radicchio gets down to this price.”

Pick - Dutch Carrots

“Dutch carrots are usually more expensive than the price they are at this week. In fact, we will sell them at around half last week’s price.

Smaller, thinner, and far more delicate than regular carrots, they are delicious roasted with salt and a drizzle of olive oil, possibly even a little garlic.  Not as cheap but also fantastic to eat are the purple variety, both varieties are a fantastic addition to any hearty winter meal.”
