“Couple of well-priced imperfect lines in the stores this week. Imperfect eggplant remains cheap and good value as does imperfect Kumera and it is looking like imperfect zucchini will also fall in price.
Celery is fast coming back in price, specials can’t be far away on this line. Imperfect tomatoes are the best tomato option as prices firm up. So, I don’t believe any veg is dearer than a week ago and quite a few are cheaper.”

In FRUIT
“Lots of good options again. I am loving the berries on offer, it’s hard to pick between the delicious strawberries and the blueberries, particularly the premium line.
As well, all the citrus is eating fantastically and very well priced. Blood oranges are now at their absolute best and easing in price. In the mandarin category, the Murcotts are cheap and good and the Afourers are fresh as we are now sourcing them from southern orchards. We also have a fantastic line of Dekopon mandarins; sensational to eat, if you haven’t tried them you should. Ask the staff to peel one if you are interested. Imperfect lemons remain as a good option to the premium fruit.
Avocados are still well priced the south QLD fruit is now at its peak. Kiwi gold is absolutely delicious. Apples are still really good, I am loving the pink ladies we are selling at the moment.”

Dave's Pick of the Week - Dekopon Mandarins
"We are going a bit left of field this week and the Dekopon fruit is my pick of the week. They are known by a couple of different names, the true name is Shiranui, which is a hybrid of two Japanese mandarins (the Kiyomi and the Ponkan). There is lots of discussion about whether it's a mandarin, orange or even a tangelo.
I am not expert enough to venture an opinion but I can tell you how fantastic they are to eat. In the United States, they are referred to as Sumo fruit and we did call them that in the early days. They are quite a misshapen piece of fruit, but a real taste treat. This week, we will sell them in all HFM stores at half last week's price."
