“Cooler conditions have shortened supply on some vegetable lines, namely cauliflower and broccoli this week. Be patient on those, it will only be for a short period. In the meantime, there is outstanding value across much of the remainder of the vegetable category.
Corn is as good as it gets at this time of year. Yellow capsicums and green caps are beautiful. Coriander is abundant. Silverbeet, beetroot, kale, snow peas, sugar snaps, imperfect kumera, imperfect zucchini, fennel, carrots, celery and brussels sprouts are all in solid supply at good prices.
North Queensland Red capsicums from Bowen are in full flush with no sign of slowing down - every store has them on a terrific special this week.
South Australian grown Kestrel potatoes are outstanding quality on a great special - beautiful waxy texture, they hold their shape whether you roast, steam or mash.
Avocados from Balmoral via our growers from Toowoomba in south east Queensland are in full swing. These are some of the best eating Hass avocados of the year - strong nutty flavour with a smooth texture. This is the avocado I look forward to every season!"

“The Northern NSW Blueberry season is shaping up to be a beauty with the expectations of a bumper crop. Blueberry numbers have increased in the markets this week. With this early fruit my advice: buy the premium jumbo-sized fruit line. They do not cost that much more and eat amazing. At this stage of the season, you genuinely get what you pay for, and the difference in flavour is worth every bit.
Blood oranges from the Riverina are ready. We have been patient - they were at the markets a couple of weeks ago but the eating quality was not quite there. This week, the acidity has dropped and the sugars have come up. Now they are good eating. Worth seeking out.
South Australian tangelos from Renmark are in all stores this week. An underrated fruit that tends to go unnoticed - I really like them. If you have not tried one, this is your week.
Imperfect Imperials mandarins are exceptional eating this week. The fruit is lunchbox size and perfect for the back to school lunchboxes and they at a great price this week in all stores.
And the southern Navel season is in full stride. The eating quality is excellent right now. Look for a terrific 3kg Navel special in store this weekend.”
