Dave's Market Update NSW - 1 February 2023

A selection of seasonal summer fruit and vegetables

In Fruit

The blackberry flush continues; I think they are the best berry available this week. As mentioned in the Pick of the Week, our Menindee seedless grapes are at their best now, and it won't be long before they are finished.

Figs are really good again; look for specials in the coming weeks. Both peaches and nectarines are fantastic, and another great value this week is the imperfect white nectarines. There is a flush of passionfruit available; we are on the last week of what turned out to be a great but late cherry season. They are still fantastic to eat fresh, but they won't keep well this late in the season.

We will now start to think about autumn fruits; they are a couple of weeks behind. However, we hope to have new-season Gala apples in stock next week.

In Veg

We have some very good veg specials in our stores this week. Corn is on at all our stores. Beans and broccoli are both fantastic value. By this weekend, we will be back to all Australian asparagus, and this will be for a few weeks as we start the late summer crops from down south.

Also in NSW stores right now, imperfect eggplant is very good value this week, and our stores have basil at a bargain price.
