IN FRUIT:
Strawberries and blueberries are both still in excellent supply and value this week. Keep an eye out for our 400gram premium majestic strawberries in stores. A little more expensive but worth every cent. Also on offer this week will be our good small rockmelons. There are only days remaining for US cherry season in what’s been a bit of a stop- start year, but this will be the last chance to purchase cherries until the Australian season in November.
Blood orange juice is sensational this time of year. It has a deep red velvet colour and a zingy flavour; a bit of an edgier profile than its orange cousin, but sensational to be used in mixes or just on its own. Season is always very short so grab it while you can! Pineapple juice is a new addition to the fresh HFM juice family and shall be on special this weekend at $2.99 for 300mL in all the stores. Perfect as a drink during these warmer winter days.
IN VEG:
The excellent weather has allowed for volumes of good quality vegetables flowing into the markets to be maintained. Broccoli, cauliflower, Dutch Carrots, leeks, loose beetroot, fennel, eggplant, English Spinach, beans, cucumbers, kumera, Chinese Cabbage, Zucchini, Spring Onions, baby cos, Brussels sprouts, and washed potatoes are all well supplied.
Kestrel washed potatoes from South Australia are on special in all stores this week and are a great eating potato. Kestrels are a highly versatile variety with a delicious, slightly sweet taste, equally good for mashing, roasting, boiling and frying. The nice even, oval shape makes kestrel and easy potato to handle.
In our organic range, lemons and beans are the highlights this week. On promotion in all stores this week both quality and price are excellent - worth a sticky beak. Worthy mentions in organic this week also go to our Hass Avocadoes, English Spinach, kale and Imperial Mandarins.
