Dave's Market Update - 7.10.20
IN FRUIT:Â
The mango season rolls on. We now have excellent tray sale and Imperfect options to add to our premium offer. We have another fantastic line - mango cheeks! Cut and sold fresh every day, this option takes all the mess and drama out of eating mangoes. In berries, we are seeing new season strawberries from Victoria starting to arrive in good numbers but it’s still premium blueberries and raspberries that are the pick of the berry offer. Papaya remains well priced and the next wave of summer stone fruit from Australian growers is just around the corner. Can’t wait for the cherries to get underway!
IN VEG:Â
A fantastic spring for veggies across the country. Leading the way are our snacking tomatoes. We have great specials on both Sampari and petite tomatoes this week. These tomatoes are just the most flavoursome tomatoes we sell. For a cheaper option, truss remain well priced this week. Broad beans are a fantastic vegetable and this week as well as the next two or three weeks is when they are at their best. I love eating food like this which is absolutely in season and it’s best. Regular beans are also excellent this week. Iceberg lettuce, fresh new season asparagus, rhubarb, Dutch carrots and celery are all still very well priced. It’s also a good week for mushrooms and all cucumbers (particularly Lebanese).
