Dave's Market Update - 5 October 2022

A selection of seasonal fruit and veg including bananas, artichokes and oranges

In Fruit

It’s a great week for bananas at all Harris Farm Markets stores. The new spring fruit is arriving in very good quantities and on special in all our stores, just in time for the kids returning to school next week. Not such good news with berries as rain and storms disrupt harvest in the growing areas. Mandarins, apples, and oranges are all well-supplied and good for the school lunch boxes. I am still a little cautious about the Territory mangoes - some are very very good others less so. They do seem to take longer to ripen than I would expect, in balance worth a try but wait until they are yellow and starting to soften before you eat them.

In Veg

This week is all about tomatoes. We have all tomatoes coming back in price, every HFM store has a snacking tomato of some sort on a red hot special - truss and gourmet tomatoes are also very inexpensive. Asparagus continues to be very good value and broccolini is a bargain in our NSW stores. Coriander is an absolute bargain compared to recent times. If you are looking for something different, artichokes are great value this week.
