Dave's Market Update - 30.06.21

IN FRUIT:
There’s been very little change in the fruit category since last week – Queensland strawberries are delicious and great value; definitely our number one line. Papaya remains inexpensive, and is eating very well. The glut of avocadoes continues, and looks unlikely to change for some time. The banana market is weakening, and prices will start to ease here. Green and Gold kiwi are both fantastic quality and well-priced . All apples and pears are fantastic, as are citrus – be mindful, though; Imperial mandarins are nearing the end of their season.

IN VEG:
There's a lot to choose from this week; caulies, broccoli and broccolini are all top quality and well priced. Fennel is way cheaper than last week, and Green Shanghai Buk Choy are on red hot special across our NSW stores. Tomatoes are easing in price and the Imperfect offer in this line has really come back. Red capsicums and Imperfect kumera still at bargain prices. I am seeing lots of imported garlic lying around the market (there’s no good Aussie product at this stage). I feel it’s about to crash, and some of the importers will be very nervous at this stage!
