Dave's Market Update - 25.08.21
In Veg: Some interesting and different specials in veg this week. Red bullhorn chillies went very well a few weeks ago and our grower has asked us to try them again this week. We also have beautiful bunches of fresh radish in our stores this week. In a sign of the change of seasons, Iceberg and baby cos lettuce are so well supplied that their prices are easing back. Celery and capsicums have also both eased in price. Leeks, cauliflowers and celery are now starting to be oversupplied and will ease towards the end of the week. We will see many vegetables become over supplied as Spring approaches!
In fruit: It's yet another great berry week at HFM! Blackberries are not fantastic, but strawberries, blueberries and raspberries are superb quality and inexpensive. Weather permitting, this should continue for a week or more. Pink Ladies are our apple of the week; again fantastic quality and cheap. Premium navel oranges, blood oranges and Afourer mandarins are all excellent. We also have an absolute bargain on Beurre Bosc pears this week; we haven’t had this quality fruit at this price for years! Avocados continue to be really fantastic and a great price too! A very good week for fruit.
