IN FRUIT:
Bananas have started to ease in price and arrivals indicate the price should ease next week. Rockmelons, especially medium sized fruit, are eating well and are far cheaper than they have been. All berries are the really good news. It’s very cold in Queensland and the prices, although quite reasonable, won’t really ease any more until we get those high twenty-degree days which doesn’t look likely just now - in fact, in some of the growing areas they are even seeing light dustings of snow! Papaya and nets of passionfruit continue to offer excellent value. Our G20 green avocados are finished for the season and we will now have only the black skinned has variety to enjoy. All citrus is excellent quality, juicy and great value. Again, I would say the kiwi gold is some of the nicest fruit available.
IN VEG:
Lots of very good options in our stores this week. The Queensland season is now in full swing and their crops are excellent, very good quality and cheaper prices are the order of the day. Very attractive prices for excellent product in Broccoli, Broccolini, Cauliflower and lettuce from the Darling downs region. A little further north, we have excellent supplies of tomatoes, capsicums and zucchini (including our bargain priced Imperfect line) being shipped daily. Locally grown Sydney basin bunch vegetables are also very good quality. We also have very good supplies of washed red potatoes. All in all, I would say the vegetables are better supplied this week than any week since Spring last year. Enjoy the savings!
