IN FRUIT:
Kensington pride mangoes from Darwin are the headline at our stores this week in what is a wonderful assortment of high quality eating fruit on offer. That familiar mango scent is in the air at our Harris Farm stores, as we put on a mango show like no other! The loose Kensington Pride mangoes are sweet and just the best eating experience. Our imperfect KP'S may show the effects of a windy season, however they have the flavour profile of our premium fruit. For mango connoisseurs, our magnificent tray sales are at the great price of $19.99 tray.
Some excellent weather conditions in Northern NSW have kept our blueberry volumes really strong. The fruit is currently just the way we like it; hard, crunchy and very sweet, with an additional sweetness being the great price! After what was a tough winter, seedless melon from Queensland is in good supply, with prices falling.
Rockmelons have faced some adversity over the last few years, which has impacted the consumption of what is a great fruit. This week I urge customers to put rockmelons back on the shopping list. We will do the work for you by hand selecting the varieties that eat the best. This week in all stores we have Caribbean King variety which is a smooth skin fruit from far North Queensland and eats amazing – you will not be disappointed! There are still plenty of good eating Papaya available, with huge volumes flowing into the markets and showing no signs of easing.
IN VEG:Many vegetable lines are transitioning between seasons. The slow start to the Victorian season has impacted the supply of broccoli, cauliflower, beans and snow peas, however rest assured that the warmer weather expected in the coming weeks will remedy the situation. The good news is that the markets are in good supply on kale, eggplant, coriander, rhubarb, broad beans, shallots, spinach and zucchini.
Primarily from the Sydney basin, sweet baby cucumbers are in strong supply this week in the markets. Quality is fantastic and you can find it on promotion in all stores at a great price. Sweet baby cucumbers are the perfect accompaniment for any salad or to just enjoy on their own as a healthy snack. Also in the snacking family, snacking tomatoes continue to be well supplied in the markets. The weeks pick is Sampari. Essentially a cherry truss tomato, the flavour of the Sampari tomato is great; there is an initial burst of sweetness, with a subtle hint of acidity. You can find Sampari on special in all stores at prices only seen once, maybe twice a year. Make the most of this opportunity!
In organics, we have plenty of good things happening! You can find grape tomatoes, celery, loose salad mix and Lebanese Cucumbers on promotion in all stores.
