Dave's Market Update - 22 February 2023

IN FRUIT

We are nearing the end for really good eating mangoes. This week, we will have Honeygolds. However, they will run out as the week goes on. We do have good supplies of Silky mangoes, which is my pick of the week, from the Bundaberg region. They are at their best and every bit as good eating as our KPs.

This weekend, all our stores will have excellent value imperfect mangoes of one or other of these varieties. From next week, mangoes will be hit or miss. Sadly, cherries have come to an end while this week will probably be the last of the lychees for the season. Berries and figs are both weather effected and just won’t keep. Lemons are easing in price as are white grapes. Seedless melon is still very reasonable as are white peaches. Williams pears and Gala apples are both new season, and both very good value

IN VEG

Vegetables are not quite as plentiful as last week. Yellow capsicums and corn both remain very good value. Broccoli has become way cheaper and very good quality with the majority of our stock coming from Tasmania. All cucumbers have eased in price to the point where we will have some great specials on these by the weekend. There is a big quantity of kale in the markets for NSW. Tomatoes have finally moved up in price across the board.
