Dave's Market Update - 22.7.20
IN FRUIT:Â
There’s not a great deal of variety in the markets this week in fruit. Given the issues with the apple crops this season, that’s to be expected. Queensland strawbs are great quality, albeit with some supply disruptions due to rain and cooler weather. Rest assured the berries haven’t gone anywhere; we are just waiting for a few days of warm weather to bring them on! North Coast blueberries are great eating at the moment. Supply has been affected by some adverse weather, with the volume peaks still to come. Limes are pricey, but lemons (especially the smaller sizes) are still good value. Queensland bananas are in good supply and are eating excellently!                     Â
IN VEG:Â
Plenty of good things happening in the markets this week in vegetables. Cauliflower, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, broccolini, Chinese cabbage, celery, zucchini, onions and beans are all good quality and well supplied. There’s some great value to be found this week with our Imperfect veg this week; Imperfect kumera, zucchini, and potato are all excellent. There is a seasonal flush of Sydney Basin English spinach in the markets this week, so keep your eyes peeled!
