IN FRUIT:
Our Silky mangoes from near Bundaberg are just the best this week. They are a smaller mango but please try one, I think you will love them. Premium lemons remain very dear but our local imperfect option (half the price of the premiums) is very good value, but even better value this week are limes; very cheap and very good. In the stone fruit category this week the white nectarines (the variety is Majestic Pearl) are a stand out for eating quality, not cheap at all - yellow peaches remain the cheapest option - but just fantastic to eat. The first of our new season apples are now in store - Galas of course - very good quality, dear, and amazingly from Bilpin which was absolutely ravaged by the fires.
The weather has effected all the berries, and everything in this category is dearer this week, however mangoes, peaches and plums are very good options here. Grapes are getting better each week and the white seedless are great value this week. Lychees and cherries should ease over the weekend as demand from exporters filling Chinese new year orders in Asia cuts back dramatically
IN VEG:Fairly hard going in the vegetable category this week. Best value is shallots which are well back in price. Dutch carrots have also eased as has Iceberg lettuce. Baby cukes, and Kestrel potatoes are still very good value. Most tomatoes are getting dearer, but cherry tomatoes are a well priced option this week
