In fruit: Fruit is fantastic at Harris Farm this week. Lychees are great value; they are sweet, have small seeds and are very attractively priced. Peaches, especially the yellow varieties, are as good as they get this week; great value and quality. In the avocado category, we have our Reed variety in store this week. They are a large flavoursome avocado, a change from the Hass that usually dominate the category. I prefer Reed to Hass. Blackberries and nets of passion fruit are both still well priced and eating fantastically. We have excellent quality Menindee seedless white grapes in store now from the Southern growing areas. In my view, all grapes from down south are better than the Queensland fruit we have been selling, as that was all that has been available.
In veg: Not a lot has changed this week in terms of vegetables. Truss tomatoes continue to be very good value, and far cheaper than the field grown options. Imperfect kumera is now well supplied and good quality after a few difficult weeks with the inclement weather in the growing areas. Dutch carrots and pumpkin are both inexpensive and coming into their peak growing period.
