Dave's Market Update - 18.08.21
Fruit: It’s finally happened! The much spoken about tsunami of berries has arrived. Unfortunately, we are not seeing the same high levels of blackberries in the markets, however you'll find tremendoues value in purchasing strawberries, blueberries and raspberries - they are cheap, and eating superbly. Weather permitting, this will continue to be the case for the next few weeks. Avocados and apples are still also plentiful, we have a bargain offer of Kanzi in our stores this week. Blood oranges remain very well supplied and seedless melon has fallen in price, which is quite opportune, given the weather we are enjoying. All pears are at their best in late Autumn, however, we have a particularly attractive offer of Imperfect corella in store this week.
Veg: Winter staples continue to please at reasonable prices, with caulies, purple sweet potato, broccoli, broccolini, Dutch carrots and Brussel sprouts all remaining very good value and fantastic quality. We are seeing larger quantities of excellent Iceberg lettuce, which is forcing the price downwards. This week, Chinese cabbage is really well supplied and a good sign that Spring is just around the corner!
