IN FRUIT:Â
It’s a fantastic time for blueberries and strawberries this week. A little too much rain a few days ago was affecting quality but this appears to have passed and I think the coming weeks will have very well priced superb berries available. USA cherries are very good but not as cheap as in previous years due to COVID-19 driven transport issues. Lots of good citrus is available, lemons and navels particularly, and we are seeing the first of my favorite blood oranges as well as easy peel and Cara Cara Oranges in store.
Lots of great winter vegetables at Harris Farm this week. Garlic is oversupplied. The importers were all concerned that they would run out of stock with transport issues however, the garlic has turned up from everywhere. Look for prices to halve over the coming week. Celery, top quality handpicked beans, baby cukes and broccolini are also all far cheaper than last week. Green capsicums especially, loose red potatoes, premium eggplant and loose beetroot are all easing in price as well. Typical of school holidays, business is quiet, and most products are cheaper than they have been
