Dave's Market Update - 15.09.21
In fruit: Our KP mangoes are now starting to eat really well. A number of the better growers are underway, prices are easing, the fruit is riper and it’s now time to start buying! Blueberries continue to be cheap and delicious; I would recommend you at least try our premium line, they are fantastic and definitely worth the extra money! Avocadoes are still fantastic and well-priced, as is all citrus, apples and pears. Papaya is at its best, and topless pineapples are very good value. Imported grapes are good, but only the air freighted product, which are fresher and mature. The cheaper sea freight product won’t be in Harris Farm stores until they pass my taste test; it’s not all about price with our company.
In veg: Spring has arrived! With that comes a flush of new season vegetables. New season asparagus is in store, and having a fantastic season; we also have bunches of radish and continental parsley this week. Zucchini, Dutch carrots and broccoli are always really good at this time and well-priced; this year is no exception. End of season fennel and artichokes are having a last burst and will be a bargain in our stores this week. Overall, bargains galore in vegetables this week!
