Dave's Market Update - 15.04.20
IN FRUIT: Again this week, grapes, apples and pears are all very good value; only pink ladies are still old season. Kanzi apples would be my choice of apples this week. There are still some good plums available and I think the flavourfalls are the pick of the late season plums. In some good news this week, banana prices are starting to ease.
This is the last week of American mandarins. The Australian mandarin fruit is really not quite right; its all gassed fruit. We will run out the USA fruit as the week goes on, but the best Australian Imperials are still a fortnight away. With grapes, I think my choice is now the crimson seedless - no longer the white Thompson seedless that have had a great run this season. There are still plenty of lemons, and enough of most fruits really.
IN VEG:
Cauliflowers and lettuce are our two bargains this week, both far cheaper than they have been; top quality and good value! Chinese cabbage, Red Capsicums, Celery and Truss tomatoes have all eased in price. Jap pumpkin is a little cheaper, Imperfect zucchini are cheap again also - so vegetables are not a problem this week!
