Dave's Market Update - 13.5.20

IN FRUIT:
The fruit I am enjoying most this week is Kiwi Gold. They definitely don’t keep as well as their green counterparts but they are just a delicious fruit and fill a gap for us as stone fruit season comes to a total halt. Avocados continue to be great value and berries continue to be difficult; that problem will soon be solved as we get going on the Queensland strawberry season. Bananas continue to be very good value and the first of the USA cherries are in store now. They are fairly good, but the early Californian fruit is never as good as the Washington state fruit that commences early July. Lemons and limes are still good value, as are apples, pears and grapes. Seedless watermelon has eased back and navel oranges get better eating every week. Don’t miss the kiwi gold.

IN VEG:
Dutch carrots, spinach, corn, fennel and telegraph cucumbers all continue to be very good value. This week, carrots, especially the 1kg prepacks, 2 kg Desiree potatoes and most of our tomatoes are well priced. Also this week, fresh peas are back in store and Imperfect parsnips are available and very good value.
