Dave's Market Update - 08.7.20
IN FRUIT:
Bananas are plentiful and cheap and eating very well. They do look dull in colour; the extreme cold in QLD at this stage causes that undesirable appearance but doesn’t affect the taste. All citrus is excellent quality and very good value. The berries are getting better and better. Raspberries are a little dearer than they have been but are eating magnificently. Blueberries are increasing in supply and a little cheaper than last week. Strawberries are now at their best but cold weather is damaging the quantities ready to harvest. If we get a bit of warm weather next week, prices will crash.
IN VEG:
Our main focus this week in vegetables is our fantastic New Season Hillston brushed potatoes. As happens in our industry, this is an example where the price is ridiculously cheap and the quality superb! Onions, cukes and beans continue to be great value. Broccoli is a standout this week and our Imperfect range of zucchini, kumera and eggplant are all great value.
