Dave's Market Update - 24.10.18

daves market update harris farm

IN FRUIT
Seedless melon from Queensland is in great supply and great quality. Refreshingly sweet and crunchy as an apple, it’s a must for this week’s shopping list. Kensington Pride mangoes from Darwin are all but over and this week we transition to fruit from the Katherine region in the Northern Territory. Papaya from far north Queensland is still in strong supply and is eating better than ever. We have started with Western Australian avocados. WA produces excellent eating avos and this year’s crop is looking strong. Blueberries are feeling the effects of the extensive periods of rain in Northern NSW. New season Victorian strawberries are now in stores. Slowing gaining momentum, we should start seeing supplies increase over the coming weeks.

IN VEGIES
Sydney basin Lebanese cucumbers are all new crops and the value and quality are outstanding. Gourmet tomatoes from Bowen in North Queensland are strong in supply. Ideal growing conditions see asparagus continue to be in strong supply. The quality is just great and the value outstanding. The markets are also well supplied with kale, Dutch carrots, beetroot, leeks, radish, cabbages, rhubarb, green capsicums, fennel, celery, iceberg lettuce, broccolini, broccoli, snow peas and sugar snaps.
