Dave's Market Update - 20.03.19
IN FRUIT
Plums are just fantastic this week, to me better than peaches or nectarines, although both of these are hanging on very well for the second half of March. All varieties of apples are now really good, and we see signs of more reasonably priced bananas by next week. Papaya continues to be very good value but it’s still grapes and avocados that are the mainstay of the fruit department. Look for bargains in limes and lemons over the next week.
IN VEGIES
It’s still a very firm market for most vegetables. Lebanese cucumbers, Telegraph cucumbers, broccoli and broccolini are all still readily available and reasonably priced. Kumera and especially imperfect kumera are very good value. Imperfect zucchini are very good and cheap, Chinese cabbage and okra are also well priced.
