Dave's Market Update - 19.06.19

IN FRUIT
Grapes and apples remain heavily supplied and cheap. Some of the berry prices are under pressure and about to fall. Blueberries always come into their own in early July, but be wary of some of the smaller fruit, on so called special, they can be sour and disappointing as growers pick immature fruit far too early to catch the last of the big prices. Raspberry supply is also growing, and I expect all berry prices will be cheaper by next week.
The first of the Washington state imported cherries are now in store, they are far superior to the Californian fruit we have had to date, dear but great quality. Navel oranges are not really cheaper this week, but the eating quality improves each week. Check out our imperfect offer, they are great value. As well, our Queensland Ruby grapefruit are now eating well and have eased in price.
IN VEGIES
Best value this week are our brown onions and Iceberg lettuce, both excellent quality and inexpensive. As with last week, beans, Lebanese cucumbers, kumera and imperfect kumera all are still great value. Broccolini is better value than broccoli and truss tomatoes have eased in price. We are starting to receive some very good new season spring onions from Queensland and the twin pack cos lettuce this week is excellent quality and value.
