Dave's Market Update - 17.7.19
IN FRUIT
This week our focus is on Queensland strawberries – they are fantastic, cheap and great quality. Another fantastic option this week is our nets of passionfruit. They are a really good size, juicy and full of fruit. I mix them with my blueberries or strawberries over my cereal in the morning, it’s a real taste treat.
We have a really good line of Nashi pears at a very attractive price in store this week. The avocado quality has improved as we move down south to the Darling Downs, they too are very well priced. Apples, pears and mandarins are all great value, about the only exception to this is large Navel oranges, which are mostly going to a very strong export market, it’s good to see the citrus growers making serious money after some very grim times in the past decade.
IN VEG
Nothing is really dear this week, not much different to a week ago. The main change has been the reduction in price of zucchinis (particularly our Imperfect zucchinis) and Chinese cabbage, twin pack cos lettuce and kumera all remain very well priced. Red capsicums are still cheap and even cheaper than last week. Fennel and broccolini are well supplied and excellent quality and tomatoes continue to be cheap.
