Dave's Market Update - 17.10.18

IN FRUIT
There are plenty of good eating melons in the markets this week. Spanish melons are great eating and quality. For those who are not familiar with this fruit, this is the week to give them a go. Rockmelons coming from far north Queensland are excellent varieties that eat consistently well. Seedless watermelon is also well supplied this week with plenty of value in the medium sized fruit. With strawberries, this week sees the start of the new season Victorian fruit, whilst the market continues to be well supplied with raspberries and blueberries. Great eating papaya is available in strong numbers. Kensington Pride mangoes from Darwin are still eating amazing. Look for some great value in our tray sales and imperfects range. Bananas unfortunately are light in supply due to the dry winter and below average temperatures.
IN VEGETABLES
The market this week is well supplied on all cucumber varieties, celery, broccoli, all cabbage, rhubarb, kumera, sweet potato, zucchini flowers, Dutch carrots, fennel, broad beans, artichokes, kale, red radish, shallots, cauliflowers and broccolini.
