IN FRUIT
Lemons and limes have both eased in price this week and with lemons, we have real bargains in our imperfect section. Raspberries are always fantastic to eat in March as the autumn crop gets underway. The autumn fruit is smaller than the mid-summer fruit but far better eating. Grapes, especially whites, are cheaper again this week and now at their best. Shepard avocados are superb, and the smaller sizes are great value. Williams pears are fantastic and this week we are seeing more passionfruit, Buerre Bosc pears and fuyu fruit than in previous weeks.
IN VEGIES
Not much happening on the vegetable front this week. Broccoli is the big news with prices as much as halving over the week. The other two real bargains are Lebanese cucumbers and imported asparagus. All the herbs that suffered with intense heat have now come good, so we have plenty of top-quality coriander, dill and continental parsley again, they have all been very hard going over the past month. Butternut pumpkin is eating very well and starting to ease in price as is Chinese cabbage. All onions are at their peak now.
