Dave's Market Update - 10.07.19

Dave's market update harris farmIN FRUIT
Berries are still a bit tricky from the drenching they got last week. However, it seems the blueberries were harmed more than the strawberries, which are getting better every day. Bananas are in very good supply also. Hickson mandarins and tangelos are both well supplied and good alternatives to Imperial mandarins, which, unless they are NSW fruit, are past their best (we do have NSW fruit but it’s not cheap). Limes have eased this week and papaya continues to be amazing eating and inexpensive.

IN VEGIES
Still lots of very good and reasonable vegies in store this week. Best value is probably broccoli. It’s coming from right across the Eastern seaboard – great quality and around half last week’s price. Most of the bargains from last week are still available with good opportunities in cucumbers, beans, pumpkin, fennel, Dutch carrots, kumera and particularly Imperfect kumera, spring onions, kale, garlic, Chinese cabbage, snow peas, and zucchini. That gives lots of great options as is always the way in school holiday periods.
