It’s all about beautiful Northern Territory mangoes this week. Increased quantities are building up in the market and they are superb eating. Blueberries especially premium fruit are still my pick of the berries. However, the start of Western Australian fruit in the strawberry category means better quality strawbs are available too. Just for something different in this berry category, we have excellent mulberries this week from the Kurrajong area. Not sure how these will be next week – the weather coming is hotter than they like. Those sweet topless pines from Queensland are on special in our stores this week they are just so good. White grapes are imported, but still good eating and good value.
IN VEG:
Celery, broccoli and carrots are all bargains this week. The asparagus crop continues in full swing – the price is right and the quality superb. Our Imperfect tomatoes are very good value and there are still some fantastic snacking tomato options available. Corn is easing in price, and aniseed and rhubarb both continue to be good value. As the weather warms up, more and more vegetables will ease in price – shoppers will have lots of choices all easy on the purse.
