Harris Farm Comes Together for Nepal

When devastating flooding affected communities across Nepal and the region, Harris Farmers and our local communities came together to show their support.

When news of the devastating floods reached Australia, it hit particularly close to home at Harris Farm.

Our Nepalese Harris Farmers are an important part of our team across the business, and we wanted to make sure they knew that during an incredibly difficult time for their families, friends and communities back home, we stood alongside them.

So, through Neighbourhood Goodness, we got to work.

In just a matter of days, Harris Farmers from across the business came together to organise fundraising sausage sizzles at our stores. What started as a smaller emergency response quickly grew as more stores, team members, suppliers and volunteers put their hands up to help.

On Saturday 5 September, twenty Harris Farm stores fired up their BBQs and invited customers to grab a snag and make a donation to support communities affected by the disaster.

Harris Farm provided the food, equipment and resources, while Harris Farmers and some of their family members volunteered their time to cook, serve, talk to customers and help bring each activation to life.

Together, the campaign raised $87k (and counting), thanks to the generosity of Harris Farmers, customers, families, friends and our wider communities.

But the purpose of the activation went beyond the fundraising total.

From the beginning, one of our biggest priorities was making sure our Nepalese Harris Farmers felt supported by the business and the people around them.

Seeing team members volunteer their Saturday, stores rally behind the cause and customers stop to donate and have conversations made that support visible.

It was a reminder that when something deeply affects part of our Harris Farm community, we can use the strength of our people and our stores to respond.

Through Neighbourhood Goodness, we want our stores to be more than somewhere people shop. They're part of their local communities and that means being ready to step up when those communities need support.

Emergency responses aren't something we can plan months in advance. They rely on people being willing to move quickly, contribute what they can and work together, and this was one of those moments.

To every Harris Farmer who volunteered, every store that got behind the activation, every supplier who contributed, every team member who helped make it happen and every customer who donated or shared the fundraiser β€” our warmest THAKN YOU!

Most importantly, to our Nepalese Harris Farmers and their families: we stand with you.

That's the Greater Goodness in action.

You still can donate and help us to raise $100k https://www.gofundme.com/f/harris-farm-stands-with-nepal
