In The Community

The Harris family is committed to supporting local communities, with a particular focus on the education of healthy eating and active lifestyles. Why? Because we believe in supporting those who support us.

As a fresh food and grocery retailer, we’re faced with the issue of food wastage on a daily basis. We’re proud to partner with OzHarvest Food Rescue, reducing food wastage and helping supply meals to Australians in need.

Surf Life Saving Clubs

Our local surf clubs are dedicated to saving lives, creating great Australians and building better communities. What’s more they’re all about promoting healthy, inclusive family lifestyles – something which we’re very passionate about.

We’re currently proud to support several local clubs including: Newport, Bondi, Manly, Bilgola & Bronte.

Jesuit Social Services

Jesuit Social Services (JSS) are an inclusive, community focussed organisation who offer training and employment opportunities to members of the local community.

How we’ve helped...

Harris Farm provided advice, support and store infrastructure to assist JSS to establish "The Store", a community co-operative shop at Holy Family Social Services, Mt Druitt. “The Store” provides affordable food and traineeship opportunities to the local community and we’re very proud to offer employment to graduates of the program.

And with the help of our suppliers, we donated 2,500 healthy eating hampers which were distributed directly through “The Store” and other local community agencies.

Harris Farm employees planted a herb garden, a children's food forest packed full of fruit and veges and over 30 fruit trees, which are maintained by participants in community training programs and wil be enjoyed by the community in the years to come.

Job Support
We’ve worked with Job Support for over 15 years, providing employment opportunities to people with intellectual disabilities. We currently employ Job Support clients in 12 of our stores and have set a company goal to have one client in every store.

Job Support identify, train and support clients as they transition to work as employees at Harris Farm Markets. Of our twelve Job Support employees, three have been with us for more than 10 years and four for more than five years.

Kids in Philanthropy

Harris Farm are proud to support Kids in Philanthropy (KIP) - a non-profit sub fund of The Sydney Community Foundation, focusing on building social awareness, social conscience and a practice of giving in kids, for kids in Australia.

How we help...

Every week we donate fresh fruit for afternoon tea to KIP’s four After School Technology & Learning Centres in Fairfield. Many of these under privileged kids have no or limited access to fresh fruit on a daily basis. The centres focus on teaching kids about nutrition and sport, technology, literacy and interpersonal skills.
