Pick of the Week - Green Kiwi
"My pick this week is green Kiwis.
Gold Kiwi has captured a massive share of the kiwi fruit market. Many people however prefer the original green varieties.
This week, we have a fantastic line of the green fruit in our stores. The price is far less than the gold this week for the first time this season. They are considered to be a fantastic source of vitamin E and other anti-oxidants.
Once they start to soften put them in your fridge. Placing in a paper bag with apples or bananas will ripen the kiwi faster."

Dave's Market Update
In Veg
“Vegetables looking well supplied with the notable exception of tomatoes, which are about as dear as they ever get. I think the dear tomato situation is quite short term only. In the meantime, we do have some good bargains in other veg lines. Fennel is fantastic value and top quality this week as is our imperfect Kumera.
Telegraph cucumbers, Iceberg lettuce and celery are all three top quality and well-priced.
In herbs, you can’t go past two of the great cooking staples, coriander and shallots. Baby cukes are also very good value.”
In Fruit
“We have a few very attractive specials this week where prices are way below last week. Firstly, in green kiwi, which has taken second place to the gold over the last few years. There are still many customers who prefer the taste of the green, and they will be well rewarded this week with cheaper prices, significantly cheaper than the gold variety.
All stores have an excellent line of imperfect Packham pears, ready to eat and well-priced. Seedless watermelon is great value, sustaining high prices gets difficult when the weather gets cold. This week, sees more bananas available, and they will be on special in NSW this weekend.
With avocados, we are seeing better quality Hass variety fruit now available and will start to offer both those and GMax fruit in our stores.
Crimson seedless grapes are probably the best option now as our Australian grape season draws to a close. Both mandarins and navel oranges are fantastic eating and great value.”
