WHAT IS TEMPEH?
Tempeh has been a staple of Indonesian Culture for centuries and is slowly making its way into the rest of the world. It is a cultured, plant based staple, rich in proteins and nutrients, and one of our favourite foods ever!
We make it by mixing our grains, beans and seeds with a microscopic mushroom culture, called rhizopus oligosporus, and incubating it at a low temperature for 24 hours.
All our products are a live fermented food, packed with protein, and are gluten free, dairy free, soy free, vegan and non gmo.

How long can I store tempeh in the fridge?
Please refer to the use by date on the package. Once opened use within 3 days.
How do I cook tempeh?
A quick and simple way is to cut the tempeh into cubes or strips, marinade if you like, then in a hot frying pan with a little oil fry the tempeh until golden brown. There are so many ways to cook with tempeh though so check out our recipe page for some great ideas.
What's the white stuff in my tempeh?
It is a structure formed by the rhizopus oligosporus, which is one of the main ingredients of tempeh. Rhizopus oligosporus are like very very small white mushrooms, which grow together with the beans to create your tempeh.
Is tempeh safe for my kids?
Yes! It's full of probiotics, a good source of plant based protein, and can easily be adapted to taste like anything you want! Add your favourite flavours and cook for a few minutes, and you're ready to eat!
