Pick of the Week - New Season Shepard Avocados
New season Shepard avocados are fantastic at this time of the year with a smooth green skin and gold buttery flesh. Avocados are one of the most nutritionally complete fruits in the world. They have a complex blend of lipids, phytochemicals, vitamins (A, C, B6, E, D), omegas and antioxidants. And the good fats in avocados, which come in many varieties, have been found to increase nutrient absorption.
HOW TO PICK
Shepard’s don’t go black on the skin as they ripen, you must judge the ripeness by the feel of the fruit. Pick avos which give gently when pressed on the top end.
HOW TO STORE
Store unripe fruit at room temperature. Once ripe, store in the fridge.
