We all know how fickle weather can be, but the good news is that winter vegetables this year will be far less expensive than last year. Remember last July and August when beans hit an all time high of $10-20kg; zucchini was $10-$15 kg and broccoli $8kg? Today prices are far less than half of those prices, making healthy eating easier on the budget. All citrus are in their prime, so keep winter colds at bay by eating a few pieces each day. Winter strawberries are fantasticread below.

Q. Customers ask us why do our fruit and vegetables last longer? A. We have a very strict policy not to store fruit and vegetables. Farmers pick and deliver their fruit and vegetables into Flemington overnight. We start receiving produce from approximately 4:00am and start sending them to our stores from 6:00am. By 11:00am our warehouse is nearly empty!
Autumn fruit is now in full swing. It looks like a much better year for apples than the last few years with quantities and quality looking much better for the consumer than last year. Queensland citrus has had plenty of rain ensuring full flavoured juicy fruit with a bumper lemon and mandarin crop underway and navel oranges soon to follow. Despite the southern half of our country still drought-affected, the variety of new season produce is fantastic.
