My pick of the week is Broccolini or baby broccoli. This fantastic product was first introduced to Australia nearly twenty years ago and has become a really popular vegetable with many consumers preferring this to Broccoli. The product was developed in Japan and is a cross between Broccoli and Kale. It has a mild flavour that seems to get sweeter as you cook it. There have been many attempts to develop similar products to this and most of them have not been as good either through taste, or often because they just don’t keep as well. No doubt in this world of changing plant science someone will solve that problem soon, we see products today that are coming very close to the original Broccolini.

HOW TO PICK
Look for bright green florets and firm stems.

HOW TO STORE
Keep in a sealed plastic bag in the fridge and use within a week.
